Carers Week 2022 The ‘Carers Wellbeing Event’ held at Ponds Forge We partnered with Sheffield City Trust and Sheffield Young Carers to celebrate Carers Week by offering free taster sessions for a range of activities to help our carers’ wellbeing. The event was held on the 9th June at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre and proved a great success with over 150 adult and young carers attending. The taster sessions included table tennis, badminton, new age kurling plus aerobics and relaxation sessions. Special offer for carers of 8 free activities at Sheffield City Trust venues This was a great initiative from the Trust so Sheffield Carers Centre ‘Carer Card’ holders could access 8 free activities. This included the gym and fitness classes plus swimming pool sessions (leisure & lane) at their venues. Over 100 carers registered during Carers Week and before the closing date of 3rd July. How we promoted Carers Week to a range of communities in Sheffield Local Radio: Our CEO (Pauline) and one of our carers (Steve) were interviewed by Paulette Edwards on her BBC Radio Sheffield show. Our thanks to Steve for taking part to outline his real-life experience of a caring role along with how he uses our support services. Local Press: Click here >>> for an article about our Carers Week activities in The Star (online). Digital Communications: In addition to the radio and press coverage our campaign included a special May edition of our Carers Enews! plus a follow up article in the June edition. We also posted reminders on our Facebook and Twitter pages during Carers Week. Our Chief Executive, Pauline Kimantas, commented on the week: “A big thank you to everyone that was involved with or supported this year’s campaign. We couldn’t achieve so much without the support of partners. The activities during Carers Week help some carers take a short and deserved break from caring to enjoy themselves. Just as importantly, the campaign helps raise awareness of the contribution made by thousands of unpaid carers in the City” Manage Cookie Preferences
