Our Events Carer Activities Carer Activities We manage a range of weekly or monthly activities that are a great opportunity to meet other carers and have a break from caring. These are listed below and you can view or print details of each event. Please keep checking back as we will continue to arrange more activities. Carer Cafe (online & in-person) Carers meet in-person at 10am on the second Friday of each month at Room G46 of Sheffield Town Hall (S1 2HH) and online at 10am on other Fridays of the month. All carers are welcome whatever their caring role and there is no need to book a place. All the online events are free to join and any donation to refreshments costs is welcome for events at the Town Hall.For more details and copy of the leaflet >>> Carer Choir Come and join our Carer Choir on Friday lunchtimes. You don’t need to have a special talent or attend every week - all you need is a love of singing. The choir meets for an hour every Friday at the Fitness Suite, Ponds Forge Sports Centre in the City Centre (S1 2BP). There is no need to book and all carers are welcome to just come to the venue and join in for the day.For more details and copy of the leaflet >>> Walk & Talk Our ‘WALK & TALK’ events are based around a short walk to help carers gain the benefits of some regular exercise, whilst talking to other people with a caring role. All carers are welcome to join the walks that are free, friendly and fun and take place on the first Thursday of each month. They are led by experienced walkers using paths through local parks or woodlands and along some country lanes.For more details and copy of the leaflet >>> Sports & Games We’re working in partnership with Sheffield City Trust to offer carers a social afternoon of FREE sports and games at Ponds Forge Sports Centre on the last Wednesday of the month. All carers are welcome to bring someone, but please have appropriate clothing and footwear. Staff from the Carers Centre or City Trust staff will be on hand to help.For more details and copy of the leaflet >>> Crafts at the Allotment SAGE is a local charity that runs the Greenfingers programme at their allotment on Grimesthorpe Road (S4 8LE). You don't need to be interested in gardening to benefit from this chance for a break from caring and be out in the fresh air, enjoy peace and quiet, meet other carers along with some of our team. The carers group meet from 1:30-3:30pm on the second Thursday of each month. For more details and copy of the leaflet >>> Carers Massage We all know that caring can be stressful, maybe a relaxing massage could help! Sarah Clarke from ‘Rest Therapy’ is offering free massages for carers but places are limited! There are four spaces available for each session taking place between 10am and 12:15. This event is strictly by appointment and Located at The Sheffield Carers Centre. Take a break from your caring role and de-stress by joining us for a free massage.For more details and copy of the leaflet >>> Life Writing Group Life writing is writing for you! Our monthly group is led by an experienced writer, we chat, look at a poem and write from the heart. It is entirely your choice if you share your writing or keep it for yourself but you will go home feeling uplifted. The Life Writing group meetup on the third Thursday of each month between 12pm and 13:30pm at the Central Library. Book Group Our Book Group read a different book each month and meetup for a lively but friendly discussion. The activity takes place on the second Monday of each month at 13:30pm to 15:00pm. We meet at the reading room in the Central Library. The group reads a variety of books and chooses the book to read from the library's book collection. This book is borrowed from the Central Library so there is no cost in joining and taking part. Art Group This group is led by a member of our team who is an experienced and passionate artist. It is a great opportunity for carers to come along and meet others to explore their creativity through different art activities. The group meet at 10am to 12pm on the first and second Tuesdays of each month in our office at Dearing House.
