An exclusive opportunity to watch edited excerpts from this award-winning film that follows (the Director) Simon's journey and experiences of being a carer for his 85-year-old Uncle David. He knows caring can "sometimes be an isolating and lonely experience for the 6.5 million carers in the UK but is such an under-valued, unpaid and invisible job."

Although David can’t remember where he put his false teeth, he still knows nearly all the lines from his beloved Shakespeare plays. Then his real life starts to replicate the mad old king in Shakespeare’s King Lear, and a series of unexpected disasters and miracles create a documentary which is brimming with tragedy and comedy.

The full version of the film is having its UK premiere at Sheffield’s DocFest (14-19 June) but its already won awards overseas plus many affectionate comments from people that have watched it:

Juliet Stevenson (UK actress): “So moving and funny and altogether extraordinary"

Julian Clary: “Wonderful. A really enthralling watch”

Simon Chambers (the film’s Director): “I've found from screenings that the film is cathartic for family carers and serves as a catalyst for them to talk about their experiences and get things off their chest.”

The screening is at the Creative Lounge of The Workstation, which is next door to The Showroom on Paternoster Row (S1 2BX). It will be followed by a Q&A session with a panel that includes Simon and other carers plus some of our team. Carers are welcome to bring the person they care-for and the venue has excellent access for anyone with mobility issues – plus we’re offering free refreshments for everyone in the audience.
